300 attend ordination and induction

Around 300 people attended Shahrukh’s ordination and induction to Inverleith St Serf’s.  Forty five members of Presbytery were out  – ministers formally robed and elders in their Sunday best.  In addition to our own congregation, there were visitors from churches where Shahrukh had served during his training.  His Sunday School teachers and his P5 primary school teacher had made the journey from the west of Scotland in support.  It was a delight to welcome Essi, Shahrukh’s wife, and son, Timo – along with other family and friends.  Graham Mackenzie and Margaret Colquhoun read lessons and Brenda Waddell , Allan Shaw and James Robertson presented Shahrukh with the signs of ministry, a bible, water and a  communion cup, set out in the photograph in this post.

After the service a large number of people stayed on and enjoyed our hospitality, admirably catered by a grand team led by Helen Hannan and Margaret Wilkinson.  A cheque was presented to our Interim Moderator who has served us for four and a half years.  Shahrukh was presented with a home communion set and he accepted on behalf of Essi and Timo a bouquet and a book from our Early Birds. Shahrukh closed the evening with the Lord’s Prayer.
