January is a month named for Janus who is shown as a head facing in 2 directions – looking back and looking forward.
It is a time of year when many of us look back at has been and look forward into what is to come.
Some of us like to start a new diary, like to map out what we plan to do on a regular basis, like to try and take control of the future.
But life has a way of being unexpected. Throwing up difficulties we did not foresee, and also, bringing joys we did not plan for.
Knowing that God, our Father in Heaven, sent his Son to be born, grow up, and walk the difficult path of service to others and eventually to die then rise again; that the Holy Spirit came and is there to help, guide and energise those who follow means we can give thanks for God’s constant presence, through all the changes and uncertainties, and have strength to carry on.
