On Christmas Day, the Light shines through the darkness. All five candles are lit.
We celebrate the arrival of Jesus.
He is born in Bethlehem; Emmanuel (God with us), A Light in the Darkness.
Today we welcome the Christ Child, the fulfilment of our joy,
as we proclaim with the prophet Isaiah, “For a child has been born for us, a son given to us;
authority rests upon his shoulders;
and he is named Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”
We light this candle as a sign of Christ coming to dwell in our midst as a vulnerable child.
May the light of Christ warm our hearts and light our way today and every day
