Wednesday Reflection
The Start of our Lent Journey
As we are now in the first full week of lent, we start thinking about our journey towards Easter. During this time, Christians may fast or give up some of their usual routine to give time to personal examination and to reflect on their relationship with God.
We all chose to recognise and acknowledge Lent in different ways, just the same as we all have our own personal relationship with God.
Many of us reflect on our relationship with God through hymns, the words from a Lenten hymn below may ring true with many of us:
Now thank we all our God
with heart and hands and voices,
who wondrous things has done,
in whom his world rejoices;
who from our mothers’ arms
has blessed us on our way
with countless gifts of love,
and still is ours today.
Or we reflect through prayer:
God, send us out into Your world
to be a people who choose Your way of love.
Whether we go into a garden or wilderness
we go with You.
May we discern what will help and what will harm,
empowered to nurture and not neglect.
Help us to live as Your people
choosing to turn toward love each and every day.
As we go forward into the second week of lent can we take a few moments to reflect on these questions.
How did I meet God today?
How did someone else meet God through me today?
How did I experience God’s love today?
How did I express God’s love today?
What might God be saying to me now?
Dear God, Thank You that You are loving and forgiving. Help us to love people in the same way as You have loved us. Help us do generous things for others because we love You. Amen
