This week our reflection theme is TREES.
What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a forester. Trees fascinated me. That’s not how life turned out but trees, individual ones or in woods and forests, are still part of life that brings me great pleasure.
We live in a country which has Winter:- enabling us to see the underlying shape of trees without the leaves;

which has Spring:- enabling us to have the joy of new growth, the greening of the trees;

which has Summer:- enabling us to feel the full strength of the trees in full leaf;

which has Autumn:- watching the beautiful changes as the trees prepare for the coming winter season.

Trees can live a very long time, living through many decades even centuries of human history.

This Olive tree in the Garden of Gethsemane is said to have been around for a very long time, regenerating from its base over the years as branches aged. This was a special place full of memory.
