In the Church calendar, these months after the end of the summer period to the end of this year seem to accelerate as organisations have got underway and activities increase. Already diaries are gearing up to Christmas and a feeling of ‘getting stuff done’ comes over us.
The nights are fairly drawing in and the leaves are falling off the trees; winter vests come out of the drawer and heavier shoes are needed as we head towards a Scottish winter.
A feeling of rush and bother can overwhelm us. So, this afternoon was a great moment of stillness and calm as we celebrated afternoon communion in the side area at the church when we could listen for God to speak.
The second hymn we sang was;
Christ is our light! …. Shine into our hearts, into our world today
