Wednesday Reflection for 20th November

Last week we thought about how God calls us by name and leads us out.

In the bible the meaning of the names of people and places were very important. They defined a person or what happened in a certain place. They could be changed if a person changed or a more momentous event took place. A name was more than just a label.

Names evoke feelings, emotions in others. These can be happy, sad, frightening, peaceful, even a mixture.

Our name, what does it mean? As we grow along life’s journey, the meaning of our name becomes clear through all that we learn and do; through all the highs and all the lows, the joys and the sorrows.

The question is what does our name mean to others? How do they remember us? How will they remember us?
