Wednesday Reflection for 25th June

Somehow the calendar moves on. Here we are at the 25th of June already. School summer holidays are about to start. This is a poem/prayer for today that I found saved on my laptop.

As the year turns and the light changes we enter the summer shortening of days.

Praise for the turning of the seasons, for bairns and buckets, and puddling and guddling in burns. The holding and holidaying days.

Praise for the greening of creation, for fullness and fruiting and grain goldening in sunlight.
The watching and waiting days.

Forgiveness for the soiling of the land, for wanton-ness and wasting and seas suffering in silence.
The warming and worrying days.

Forgiveness for the darkening of skies, for destruction and devastation and panicked peoples in flight.
The desperate and despairing days.

Thanksgiving for the seedlings of hope, for welcome and kindliness and hands and hearts in solidarity.
The healing and helping days.

Praise O Creator
For creatures who care
For workers in the harvest
For warmth and willingness
For chances to change
For love to lead
In the power of the spirit.

Amen
