This week our reflection theme is insects.
Insects – some are large and easily seen,

some are very small but often mass in groups – midges and mosquitos and we come up with ingenious ways to protect ourselves from them.
Some are very dangerous so we avoid them, yet others we like to see because they are beautiful.

Many are well known as very useful for us, others not so obviously, eating pests that attack our plants

working as pollinators or working to break down fallen vegetation and waste products to form new soil or are themselves food for other animals.

All of them from the largest to the smallest have a part to play in the life of our planet.
The natural world we live in is even more amazing than we can imagine. Over the centuries, humans have discovered more and more about how life forms interact with each other, the effects they have on each other and there is still so much more to learn.
May we be open to understanding how we are all part of creation and how to keep our environment in balance.
